The Wüsthof Ikon African Blackwood series is designed for cooks who want the performance of a forged German blade with a more refined, ergonomic feel in hand. Unlike the Classic line, the Ikon features a distinctive double-bolster design that shifts the balance point toward the handle, creating a more controlled, comfortable cutting experience—especially during extended prep.

Each knife is precision-forged in Solingen, Germany from a single piece of X50CrMoV15 stainless steel, delivering the durability and edge stability expected from a traditional German workhorse. The handles are crafted from African Blackwood (Grenadill), one of the densest hardwoods in the world. Naturally rich in oils, it resists moisture and movement while providing a smooth, contoured grip that feels stable and secure in hand.

The blades are finished using Wüsthof’s Precision Edge Technology (PEtec), applying an approximately 14° edge per side for a sharp, consistent cutting geometry that balances performance with durability. A reduced front bolster allows for sharpening along the full length of the blade while supporting a comfortable pinch grip.
