Bread Knives

Straight, long and serrated bread knives are used for just that: cutting bread. Aside from their traditional function bread knives are often used for cutting melons, layering cakes and even for slicing meats. The serrations themselves can vary in form as the “teeth” may be pointed or rounded and can cut into the blade or extrude from it. Another consideration is the style of grip as offset handles provide substantially more knuckle clearance than a standard grip.

  • F. Dick ProDynamic Serrated Bread Knife - 10"

Precision German Engineering for the Perfect Slice—Every Single Time. In a professional kitchen, a bread knife isn't just a tool; it is a high-frequency asset that must perform consistently across hundreds of cycles. The F. Dick ProDynamic 10" Bread Knife (SKU: D8 5039 26) is the culmination of Friedrich Dick’s centuries-old German heritage, specifically optimized for the modern culinary environment where speed, safety, and hygiene are non-negotiable. The Geometry of a Better Slice Most serrated knives 'saw' through bread, creating excessive crumbs and tearing the delicate interior. The ProDynamic series features a high-performance serrated edge on a 10-inch blade, providing the optimal length for long, sweeping strokes. Whether you are attacking a thick-crusted sourdough boule or a delicate brioche, this blade enters the crust with minimal pressure, preserving the structural integrity of your baked goods. The 10-inch length is the 'Goldilocks' size—long enough to handle oversized loaves while remaining nimble enough for precision pastry work. Uncompromising Hygiene and Ergonomics The ProDynamic series is defined by its innovative handle construction. The black plastic handle is not merely attached; it is injection-molded directly to the stainless steel tang. This seamless transition eliminates the microscopic gaps where flour, moisture, and bacteria typically thrive. For commercial bakeries and culinary students, this represents a significant leap in food safety. The ergonomic, non-slip grip reduces hand fatigue during high-volume prep, ensuring that the 50th loaf is as easy to slice as the first. Professional Grade, Accessible Value Forged from X50CrMoV15 high-carbon stainless steel, this knife offers the edge retention of a premium tool with the lightweight agility required for fast-paced work. It provides the durability needed for the industry without the weight of a traditional forged bolster, making it the preferred choice for those who value efficiency and performance. Learn More
  • F. Dick ProDynamic Bread Knife - 8 in.

The Ultimate Tool for the Serious Baker When it comes to slicing artisan loaves, soft brioche, or delicate pastries, the tool you choose determines the quality of the presentation. The F. Dick ProDynamic 8" Bread Knife is not just another kitchen utensil; it is a professional-grade instrument designed by Friedrich Dick—a brand with a legacy in German cutlery dating back to 1778. Precision Serration Meets German Engineering At the heart of this knife is the high-carbon X50CrMoV15 stainless steel blade. This specific alloy is chosen for its exceptional balance of edge retention and corrosion resistance. The aggressive serrated edge is ground to penetrate the hardest sourdough crusts instantly, allowing the teeth to grip and saw through without requiring downward pressure that would otherwise crush the soft interior. This ensures that every slice—from a thin piece of rye to a thick wedge of baguette—remains uniform and intact. Designed for the Rigors of the Professional Kitchen Part of the ProDynamic series, this knife features a lightweight construction that reduces wrist fatigue during long prep sessions. The ergonomic handle is made from high-quality, non-slip plastic, providing a secure grip even when hands are wet or covered in flour. What sets this knife apart is the seamless, molded construction. The handle is fused directly to the blade, leaving no gaps where food particles or bacteria can accumulate. This hygienic design makes it a top choice for commercial bakeries and restaurants following strict HACCP guidelines. Whether you are a professional pastry chef or a home baker who demands excellence, this knife provides the reliability and clean, professional look your kitchen deserves. Learn More
