TeakHaus Cutting Board Oil 8oz

Lock In Moisture and Prevent Structural Failure with TeakHaus Oil

Maintaining a professional teak cutting board requires more than surface-level cleaning; it demands deep fiber saturation. Teak is prized for its high natural oil content and silica, but even these resilient woods eventually lose moisture under the heat of a commercial kitchen or repetitive washing. This 8oz bottle of TeakHaus Conditioning Oil provides the necessary replenishment to prevent the wood from becoming brittle. When wood dries, it contracts, leading to micro-fissures and eventually deep splits that can harbor bacteria and ruin the board's structural integrity.

Applying this oil reveals the rich, dark luster of the teak grain without any oily residue or sticky buildup. The liquid has a light viscosity that flows easily into the pores, ensuring the board stays hydrated from the inside out. Unlike kitchen pantry oils that go rancid over time, this odorless and tasteless formula is completely shelf-stable and food-safe. During application, you will notice the wood quickly 'drinking' the oil, a tactile indicator of thirst. Once saturated, the board develops a hydrophobic surface where water beads and rolls off, rather than soaking into the grain. For chefs handling high-acid ingredients or frequent washing, this creates a critical barrier that extends the life of the board by years.

    Professional Application Protocol

    1. Preparation: Ensure the board is scrubbed clean and 100% dry. Do not apply oil to a damp surface, as moisture will be trapped beneath the oil layer.
    2. Saturation: Apply a generous amount of oil. Use a clean lint-free cloth or paper towel to spread it evenly across all surfaces, including the edges and underside.
    3. Rest Period: Allow the oil to penetrate the wood fibers for at least 6 hours. For neglected or new boards, a 12-to-24-hour soak is recommended.
    4. Buffing: Wipe away any excess oil that hasn't been absorbed with a fresh, dry cloth. The surface should feel smooth and hydrated, not greasy.
    5. Frequency: Apply at least twice a month for professional use, or whenever the wood begins to appear dull or feels rough to the touch.
