The higher grit stones (5000 and above) really benefit from a cleaning stone. Higher grit stones have a harder bonding agent which causes the abrasives to release more slowly and to be more prone to "loading up" or collecting metal particulate. We recommended that you use a cleaning stone for these high grits. Splash and go, no soaking needed.
