The Naniwa Pink Flattening Stone measures approximately 8-1/4" x 2-3/16" x 1" and is crafted from Pink Aluminum Oxide, a material known for its superior hardness and durability compared to the more common White Aluminum Oxide found in many water stones.

Why Pink Aluminum Oxide?
Unlike most flattening stones made with Silicon Carbide—which features sharp, aggressive cutting particles that break down quickly—Pink Aluminum Oxide offers a balance of efficient cutting speed and long-lasting durability. This results in a hard-wearing flattening stone that maintains its shape well over time.

Proper Usage
Before use, soak the flattening stone thoroughly, and ensure the water stone is also wet as needed. Secure the water stone on a work surface or hold it in your hand, then rub the Naniwa Flattening Stone over it until the surface is evenly flattened.
