Cutting Boards

The surface beneath a knife has a direct effect on how long its edge lasts. Glass, stone, and ceramic dull a blade quickly; wood absorbs the impact of each cut and helps a fine edge stay sharp. This collection focuses on two woods chosen for their compatibility with quality cutlery: teak and hinoki.

Teak is a dense tropical hardwood with a high natural oil content, which gives it strong resistance to moisture. Our TeakHaus boards are available in edge-grain and end-grain construction, from compact serving boards to full butcher blocks. Hinoki, a Japanese cypress, is a softer wood that gives slightly under the blade, which makes it a preferred surface for thin, hard Japanese knives. Both woods benefit from regular oiling, and board oil is available in this collection.

  • TeakHaus 18 x 14-inch Scandi End Grain Cutting Board with Juice Canal

The TeakHaus Scandi End Grain Cutting Board is for cooks who want end-grain construction in a board light enough to move around the kitchen. Most end-grain boards are thick and heavy; this one is built thinner, so it washes and stores like an everyday board.
Features End-grain teak: The wood fibers stand upright, so the knife edge passes between them rather than across them. Teak’s high natural oil content acts as a moisture barrier. Thin and lightweight: Easier to lift, wash, and store than a standard butcher block. Juice canal on one side: Catches juices when you slice meat or ripe fruit. Reversible: The other face is flat for chopping or serving. Hand grips: Grips cut into the ends make the board easy to carry.
How to Use It Do daily chopping on an end-grain surface without moving a heavy block. Slice steak, chicken, or a small roast on the canal side. Serve cheese, bread, and fruit on the flat side. Store it in a cabinet when not in use.
Choosing a Board The TeakHaus 18 x 14-inch Scandi Edge Grain Cutting Board is the same size in edge grain. For a heavier end-grain board, see the TeakHaus 20 x 15-inch End Grain Butcher Block Cutting Board. Learn More
  • TeakHaus 16 x 12-inch End Grain Butcher Block with Juice Canal

The TeakHaus End Grain Butcher Block in this size is for cooks who want end-grain construction without giving a large board permanent counter space. It is thick enough for heavy chopping, small enough for a sink, and reversible, with a juice canal on one face.
Features End-grain teak: The wood fibers stand upright, so the knife edge passes between them rather than across them. Teak’s high natural oil content acts as a moisture barrier. Juice canal: A channel on one face catches juices from meat and ripe produce. Reversible: The other face is free for chopping and dicing. Hand grip: A cut-in grip makes a dense, heavy board easier to lift.
How to Use It Mince garlic, shallots, and herbs on a stable surface. Slice a steak or chicken breast on the canal side. Break down produce for a weeknight meal. Serve cheese and cured meats for two to four people.
Choosing a Size For more surface area, see the TeakHaus 20 x 15-inch End Grain Butcher Block Cutting Board, the TeakHaus 20 x 14-inch Extra-Thick End Grain Butcher Block with Juice Canal, or the TeakHaus 24 x 18-inch End Grain Butcher Block with Juice Canal. Learn More
  • TeakHaus 21 x 18-inch Double-Sided Countertop Board

The TeakHaus Double-Sided Countertop Board is for cooks who carve, chop, and bake on the same surface. One face has a juice canal for meat and produce. The other face has a lip along the edge that hooks over the front of the counter and holds the board in place, so you can roll dough or chop without the board sliding away from you.
Features Countertop lip: The lip anchors the board against the edge of the counter, which keeps it steady while you roll out pie crust, pizza dough, or pasta. Juice canal: Flip the board and the canal side holds juices from roasts, steaks, and ripe fruit. Reclaimed teak: Each board shows its own grain and color. Large, light board: A full-size work surface that weighs much less than the TeakHaus butcher blocks.
How to Use It Roll pie crust, pizza dough, and cookie dough on the lip side. Carve roasts and slice steak on the canal side. Knead bread with the board held in place. Set up a mise en place for a full meal. Learn More

The TeakHaus Traditional Cutting Board is for home cooks who want a single everyday board large enough for real prep work and small enough to leave out on the counter.
