The Universal Plus mixes from the bottom up. The 500-watt motor sits in the base and drives the bowl and tools directly, rather than swinging a heavy head down from above — a layout that's stayed largely unchanged for decades because it holds a 6.5-quart bowl steady on the counter through thick doughs. Four speeds plus a pulse setting cover everything from a slow fold to a fast whip, and suction feet, built-in cord storage, and an included splash ring round out the base unit.

The White and Black versions share the same motor and base, but the bowl is different: White ships with a 6.5-quart plastic bowl rated for up to 14 pounds of dough, while Black steps up to a 6.5-quart stainless steel bowl rated for up to 10 pounds. Both come with a dough hook and wire whips to start, and both open onto the same long-running attachment system, so a blender jar, slicer, or grain mill added later fits either one.
