Bosch 6.5-Quart Universal Plus Stand Mixer, White

The Bosch Universal Plus is built for home bakers who mix bread dough in quantity: whole grain sandwich loaves, enriched holiday doughs, and cookie batches large enough for a bake sale.

Its motor sits in the base, beneath the bowl, and drives the tools through a belt transmission. That layout puts the torque directly into the dough, keeps the machine compact and light enough to lift onto the counter, and leaves the top of the bowl open, so flour, water, and inclusions go in while the mixer runs.

Features

• Bottom-drive motor. Power comes up from below rather than through an overhead arm, which gives the dough hook steady torque in stiff, whole grain, and low-hydration doughs.


• Kneading dough hook. The hook stretches, folds, and tucks the dough in a motion modeled on hand kneading, developing gluten for an even crumb. The included dough hook extender lets the same hook work a single loaf as well as a full bowl.


• Dual wire whips. The two whips turn independently while traveling around the bowl, a triple whipping action that builds volume in meringue and whipped cream, down to a single egg white.


• Suction feet. Four suction cups hold the base to a smooth countertop, so the mixer stays in place under a full load of dough.


• Splash ring and lid. The two-piece splash ring lets you add ingredients during mixing while keeping flour and liquid in the bowl.


• Four speeds and a pulse setting. The speeds run from a slow fold to a fast whip, and the momentary pulse runs the motor only while it is held, for brief, controlled mixing.


• Attachment drive. A high-speed outlet accepts optional Bosch attachments, including a blender, slicer/shredder, meat grinder, and ice cream maker, so the base serves more than baking.
