The Norton 4000/8000 Grit Combination Waterstone creates an abrasive slurry during use, for effective sharpening with less pressure than oil stones. The 4000 grit is for maintaining and refining your blade's edge, and the 8000 grit is for polishing. The 4000 grit side requires some soaking and the 8000 can be used as a "splash and go". We recommend using the blue storage case for soaking the 4000 grit as this will allow the 8000 side to stay out of the water. The blue plastic box features rubber feet, and can be used as a holder during use.
