Norpro Replacement Charcoal Filters for Ceramic Compost Keepers, 2 Pack

These are the replacement charcoal filters for Norpro’s ceramic compost keepers, and fit is the first thing customers ask about. The 93F fits Norpro models 83, 93, 93R and 93EB, including the Norpro 1-gallon ceramic compost crock. It does not fit Norpro’s jumbo 84 stainless keeper, which uses the 84F filters.

Each pack holds two round filters, 5.5 inches across. One goes in the lid at a time, so a pack lasts about a year in daily use. The charcoal absorbs odors as air passes through the vents in the lid, which is what lets a compost crock sit on the counter without smelling.

Replace the filter about every six months, or sooner in a hot, humid kitchen. Filters do not wash and reuse, and a filter that gets wet stops working, so keep it dry when you wash the crock. Let cooked food cool before scraping it in to keep moisture down. Note the date on the lid when you change a filter, and order the next pack before the spare runs out.
