Tips for Best Results
- Add salt only once the water is boiling. Salt that settles on the bottom of a cold pan can cause small pits in stainless steel.
- On a gas range, keep the flame within the base of the pan; flames that reach up the sides heat the handle and discolor the exterior.
- Dishwasher safe, though hand washing is recommended to keep the finish bright.
- Heat and cool the pan gradually. Plunging a hot pan into cold water can cause warping.
- Rainbow tinting and white mineral spots are normal with stainless steel. Remove them with diluted white vinegar or a stainless steel cleaner.
When We Recommend the Made In 4-Quart Stainless Clad Saucepan
Who it Fits Best
Home cooks who want one saucepan that handles most daily tasks, and line cooks who need a mid-size pan for sauces and sides.
Where it Excels
Polenta, tomato reductions, and small-batch frying, where heat that rises evenly up the walls keeps thick foods from scorching at the edges.
Professional Comparisons
Compared with All-Clad’s D3 line, a common benchmark for stainless cookware, the Made In pan uses 5-ply construction instead of 3-ply and carries a higher oven rating: 800°F versus 600°F for the D3.
Chef Feedback
“The handle angle is the standout. It is positioned to provide leverage when the pan is full of liquid, which reduces wrist strain during a long shift.”
Trade-offs & Considerations
The pan is heavier than budget cookware. Filled to capacity, it may call for two hands, particularly for cooks with limited wrist strength.
