Pride Abrasive 220/1000 Grit Combination Stone
Pride Abrasive 220/1000 Grit Combination Stone. This stone is intended for the serious sharpener. The high abrasive in the 220 grit will make very short work of dull or damaged knives (be careful not to oversharpen on the 220). The 1,000 can be used to smooth and refine the work of the 220 and to set a beveled edge. The finished edge on the 1,000 may be suitable for vegetable cutting but generally the sharpener should finish on a higher stone than the 1,000. Learn More$42.95 -
Naniwa Large 24 Grit Flattening Stone
Dimensions: 11.8 in x 5.9 in x 0.8 in 24 grit Coarse carbide stone Promotes maximum cutting for all grit sizes of whetstones. Produces extremely flat results on all water stones, ceramic or traditional. Flattener and stone should be wet before use. This large flattening stone comes with rubber feet and is designed to be laid flat in a sink bottom while you hold the stone and run it across the flattener. Extra coarse for fast cutting. We use these because of the high volume of hand sharpening. This cuts quickly, but can leave fine grooves in the higher grit stones, which should be smoothed with your dressing stone. For persons doing a more normal volume of sharpening, the large 220 grit provides the benefit of truer flat without the grooving, it just takes longer. (Most flattening stones are around 220 grit) Learn More$65.00 -
Masahiro 3000 Grit Waterstone
This 3000-grit traditional waterstone delivers a comparatively high polish for its grit, paired with excellent cutting abrasion. This is an ideal final stone for an all-purpose blade. This 3000 grit also fits naturally into more advanced sharpening progressions: stones in the 2000-4000 grit range sit in the middle of the spectrum, following a coarser 400-1000 grit stone that shapes the edge and removes any chips, then refining that edge past the coarser scratch pattern it leaves behind. In a three- or four-stone progression, this stone serves as that middle stage, preparing the edge for a higher-grit (6000+) stone to follow for a mirror polish. In a simpler two-stone setup, though, it works just as well as the finishing stone itself, producing a keen edge with excellent cutting bite. As a traditional waterstone, it requires a short soak in water before use — it is not a splash-and-go tool. Testing shows it holds up harder and more durable than the King 3000, with better flatness retention over repeated use. Chef Feedback “We love the finish derived from this 3000 grit fine stone. It doesn’t ‘load up,’ cuts quickly, develops slurry fairly easily, and puts a finished edge on a knife that’s comparable with other brands of much higher grit. Highly recommended.” Learn More$80.25 -
