Cutting Boards

The surface beneath a knife has a direct effect on how long its edge lasts. Glass, stone, and ceramic dull a blade quickly; wood absorbs the impact of each cut and helps a fine edge stay sharp. This collection focuses on two woods chosen for their compatibility with quality cutlery: teak and hinoki.

Teak is a dense tropical hardwood with a high natural oil content, which gives it strong resistance to moisture. Our TeakHaus boards are available in edge-grain and end-grain construction, from compact serving boards to full butcher blocks. Hinoki, a Japanese cypress, is a softer wood that gives slightly under the blade, which makes it a preferred surface for thin, hard Japanese knives. Both woods benefit from regular oiling, and board oil is available in this collection.

  • TeakHaus 16 x 12-inch Herringbone Cutting Board with Tablet Slot

The TeakHaus Herringbone Cutting Board in this size is for cooks who follow recipes on a tablet or phone and want the screen upright and out of the mess. One face has a slot that holds the device; the other face has a juice canal for carving. The herringbone pattern makes it attractive enough to serve on.
Features Herringbone edge-grain teak: Edge-grain strips set in a herringbone pattern give a surface that is easy on knife edges. Teak’s high natural oil content acts as a moisture barrier. Tablet slot: A slot on one face holds a tablet or phone upright, so the recipe stays in view while you work. Juice canal: The opposite face has a channel to catch juices from meat and ripe fruit. Compact size: Fits on a small counter and in most sinks for washing.
How to Use It Follow a video or recipe while you prep on the slot side. Slice steak, chicken, or a small roast on the canal side. Cut juicy produce such as tomatoes, peaches, and citrus. Serve cheese or bread for two to four people.
Choosing a Size The herringbone design also comes as the TeakHaus 18 x 14-inch Herringbone Cutting Board with Juice Canal and the TeakHaus 24 x 18-inch Herringbone Cutting Board. Neither larger size has the tablet slot. Learn More
  • TeakHaus 18-inch Traditional Round Carving Board

The TeakHaus Traditional Round Carving Board is for hosts who serve at the table and want a round board that holds a full spread. The large round surface suits cheese and charcuterie, pizza, and carved meats, and a juice groove keeps the juices off the tablecloth.
Features Edge-grain teak: A cutting surface that is easy on knife edges. Teak’s high natural oil content acts as a moisture barrier. Round shape: Guests can reach the board from every side, which makes it a natural centerpiece. Juice groove: Catches juices from carved meats and sliced fruit. Side handle: Gives a secure hold when you carry a loaded board. Thick, heavy build: Stays put on the table while you carve or slice.
How to Use It Arrange a cheese and charcuterie board for a party. Slice and serve pizza or a round loaf of bread. Carve a roast chicken or tri-tip at the table. Present a fruit platter or crudités.
Choosing a Round Board For a thicker end-grain round, see the TeakHaus 18-inch End Grain Butcher Block Round. Learn More
  • TeakHaus 18-inch End Grain Butcher Block Round

The TeakHaus End Grain Butcher Block Round is for cooks and hosts who want a thick, heavy round board that works as both a prep block and a centerpiece. It handles a cleaver and a pizza cutter equally well. Set on the table, it holds a full charcuterie spread or a tray of sliced barbecue.
Features End-grain teak: The wood fibers stand upright, so the knife edge passes between them rather than across them. TeakHaus describes the surface as self-healing, because the fibers close back up after a cut. Teak’s high natural oil content acts as a moisture barrier. Extra-thick build: The added depth and weight keep the block from moving under heavy chopping. Round shape: Guests can reach every side, and pizzas and round loaves fit naturally.
How to Use It Slice and serve pizza straight from the oven. Arrange a cheese and charcuterie spread for a party. Slice brisket, sausage, and ribs at a barbecue. Use it as a dedicated chopping block for herbs and aromatics.
Choosing a Round Board For a thinner edge-grain round with a juice groove and handle, see the TeakHaus 18-inch Traditional Round Carving Board. Learn More
