The most difficult part of honing is maintaining a consistent angle. Shun solves this with a built-in beveled bolster. By resting your blade against the angled guard, you are automatically positioned at the correct factory-set angle, ensuring you never accidentally round or damage your Shun’s signature 16° edge.
