  • Granton 10 in. Packing House Steel

Often referred to as a butcher's steel or packing house steel, the Granton® 10-Inch Magnetized Polishing Steel is the industry standard for professionals who rely on a perfect edge, shift after shift. Forged in Sheffield, England, this is not a simple honing rod; it is a precision finishing tool designed for the high-demand environments of meat processing, where safety, hygiene, and efficiency are paramount.  The Professional's Choice: The Packing House Standard Meat packers and professional butchers choose this specific type of steel for several critical reasons:  Essential Food Safety: In a commercial facility, hygiene is non-negotiable. As a knife is steeled, it sheds microscopic metal particles. The powerful magnetization of the Granton® steel instantly captures these filings, preventing them from contaminating meat or becoming airborne. Peak Efficiency and Reduced Fatigue: A polished edge glides through meat with significantly less friction than a merely honed edge. For a worker making thousands of cuts per day, this reduction in effort leads to faster work, cleaner cuts, and less physical fatigue. Superior, Longer-Lasting Edge: The super-fine polishing surface removes the microscopic "burr" left after sharpening, burnishing the steel to a flawlessly smooth, razor-keen edge that stays sharp longer under continuous use. The steel holds the fine metal particles released during honing instead of letting them fall onto the cutting board or the product.Nickel-plated, high-carbon file steel. A hard high-carbon core carries a nickel-plated finish that forms the polished working surface.Guarded polypropylene handle with heavy-duty ring. The guard keeps the hand behind the working length of the rod, and the ring allows the steel to hang within reach at the workstation.Made in the USA.
