Why This Rod Stands Out
- 8000 grit ceramic (safe for frequent use)
- Removes extremely small amounts of material while refining the edge - ideal for regular maintenance
- Designed for Japanese knives (60-65+ HRC)
- Works effectively on hard steels where standard rods can cause micro-chipping or be ineffective
- Refines more than it removes
- Realigns the edge while lightly polishing the apex for cleaner cutting performance
- Extends time between sharpening
- Frequent use helps maintain sharpness and reduce the need for more aggressive sharpening
- 270mm rod length
- Ideal for gyuto, sujihiki, and full-size chef knives
- Octagonal cherry wood handle
- Traditional Wa-handle with a secure, natural grip
- Stainless steel hanging ring
- Durable and practical for kitchen storage
Use & Application:
Use light pressure at a 15-20° angle.
A few strokes per side before or after use will keep your edge aligned and cutting cleanly.
Because of the ultra-fine grit, this rod is designed for frequent - even daily - use as part of regular knife maintenance.
Important: This rod is for edge maintenance, not full sharpening. f your knife is dull, a whetstone will still be required. We carry a wide variety of sharpening steels and are happy to help you select the best fit for your budget and preferences.
